"The DOE should consider all means to maximize positive economic impacts to Esmeralda County from the rail line and transportation system. The Esmeralda County Board of Commissioners encourages DOE to work directly with the local governments impacted by the rail line to identify associated economic opportunities." Photo description: Transporting high-level radioactive waste on highway 95 corridor through Goldfield could adversely impact the community. Currently the DOE is studying the Mina Rail Corridor as a possible rail line which would traverse Esmeralda on its way to the proposed Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste facility.
